I’m working on a short article on what motivates entrepreneurs.
The right challenge or adventure. Or is it just necessity-driven entrepreneurship? The right challenge inspires Microsoft’s “Our Software on every PC”, Google’s “Renewable energy cheaper than coal” and many other entrepreneurial initiatives that have changed the world.
The right friends to work with. The starting team is everything. They must embody the Startup Mantra for themselves in different and yet coherent ways.
Above all, Responsibility to oneself.
As it turns out, Startups need a perfect combination of these three ingredients to succeed. For instance, Startups know that they have to set insane goals – or Mantra’s in order to make sense of the effort involved in starting from scratch.
What motivates you?

I am motivated by two factors:
1. The feeling of contributing to making (other) peoples lives better – Contributing back to society in some way, things you have taken from it
2. By continuously challenging yourself and proving to yourself that you can do more than what you have done in the past. Beating yourself at beating yourself
